Janurary 23 2022 | By Daija Green
From 8-year-old girls, dreaming of our futures to 22-year-old evolving women now doing the work to create our lives - this conversation is an ode to the friends who are growing into womanhood, figuring themselves out, and holding each other up along the way. Meet the beautiful and gifted model, Jordin Williams, who also happens to be my lifelong friend. From creating a top career in modeling to traveling around the world and living out her purpose, I have watched Jordin turn her dreams into her reality throughout the years.
As we both come into such a defining chapter in our lives Jordin sits down with Trutuyou to talk about the highs, lows, and lessons of coming into womanhood. As well as, life as a model, her newest creative endeavor and manifestation.

Coming into womanhood with Jordin Meredith
Trutuyou : Who is Jordin and what do you do?
Jordin :
I’m a model. I am literally creating who I am right now, as we speak. I don’t feel like I can be boxed in right now. I’m a free spirit. I’m evolving. I’m an evolving woman.Trutuyou : I am so proud of you! To have a little reflection moment, how does it feel to be living a life that was once a dream?
Jordin :
I feel very blessed to have experienced a lot of the things that I have experienced. Until I talk about it, I don't realize what I have done thus far and how some of the things that I wanted to do materialized because it's life. You do things and it's like what's next? But I feel very blessed to have done everything I have so far. Trutuyou : What do you love most about modeling?
Jordin :
I love modeling because it allows me the opportunity to have freedom, flexibility, and travel. These are the things I would be doing if I didn't get paid for it at all. It affords me the ability to keep finding other passions. Modeling unfolded gradually for me. Hindsight, when I look back it's been really fun. I’ve gotten to do a lot of things that I dreamed of doing. I’m grateful. Trutuyou : I remember you were very scared going into it & since then you have blossomed. What changes have you seen in yourself from when you first started? What has modeling taught you?
Jordin :
When I first started, I was seventeen so I was not 100% confident in myself. I had to learn very quickly that nothing is personal. In life period. With modeling, it's all about your shell. Who you are on the outside. It’s a blessing to be able to capitalize on the things that you have naturally but you cannot connect yourself and your identity to these surface-level things. It made me understand who I was at my core and get really clear about who I am so that no one could tell me otherwise. I would be released from bookings and take it so seriously like they didn't like me but it wasn't about that. With modeling everything is surface level so you can't go into it weak-minded or lacking confidence, you have to get clear about who you are and you just have to understand the business. I feel like that is how I have grown because I forget that I'm tall or that I'm skinny. All these things that people notice because it's not who I am. I am the person on the inside. On manifestation
Trutuyou : In one of your latest youtube videos, “Let’s talk: Manifestation & the law of attraction” you share a guide to manifestation based on your personal experience. Can you touch on a few of the points that you made? The first thing you talked about was getting clear on your vision…
Jordin :
It is so important to get clear about what you want. I don’t mean actually writing it out or making bullet points but seeing it very clearly. Before I started modeling I would watch shows like America's Next Top Model and visualize myself in those scenarios. I would visualize myself walking for certain designers and things like that. With time, things happened naturally. Our thoughts and visualizations are planting the seeds for our future. See your dream life, see yourself in these certain settings, with certain people, doing certain things and that will call them forth. Trutuyou : The next thing you talked about was the power of the mind and how certain thoughts can cause friction when manifesting.
Jordin :
Yes! We have those thoughts that we are conscious of - the thoughts that we purposely try to think and affirm in order to have a better reality. And that's good, that's planting those seeds. But what we don't realize is that since childhood we hear a lot of things that put subliminal messages in our minds. These things can contradict what we actually want. If we don't sit with ourselves and uncover these subconscious deep beliefs that we have, then we won't understand why we are having friction in manifesting. There are a lot of examples of contradicting beliefs that we have and until we fully unlearn those then it's working against what we are trying to call forth. Trutuyou : Yes. There was a point where I was reciting affirmations daily, working toward my goals and nothing was happening. I realized that deep down I was telling myself that I didn't deserve the things that I desired.
Jordin :
Yes, that is one example! Like we don't really believe that we are worthy of these things. So that is what we have to focus on instead of regurgitating these affirmations. We have to unpack why we don't feel worthy. On her youtube channel
Trutuyou : What inspired you to create your youtube channel?
Jordin :
I feel like we are in a time now where passion is most important. Modeling is fun. It allows me to travel and incorporates fashion. I try to combine everything that I love. I love modeling, but I would also feel unfulfilled if I were to just do modeling for the rest of my life and not have anything to say because I have a lot to say. I feel like youtube gives me full creative control and gives me a platform to be myself, talk about God, document my traveling, and cover modeling too. It just ties all of the things I love together. Trutuyou : What can we expect to see on your youtube channel this upcoming new year?
Jordin :
A documentation of my evolution. A lot of relatable content because I know that when I'm going through literally anything under the sun, I like to watch a youtube storytime that's similar. I want my youtube channel to be a video journal of my growth - I will share my work experiences, travel, lifestyle vlogging, and spirituality.Trutuyou : I think people will really love and appreciate that! I know I do. What message do you want people to take from your youtube channel?
Jordin :
I just want people to feel uplifted and inspired. I want people to feel like they can be themselves. I think authenticity, transparency and just being yourself is in. It took a lot for me to muster up the courage to say what I have to say. Collectively if we all step into this space of authenticity and transparency, that's how we weed out people, it’s how we find our tribe, how we find the people that will support us. On coming into womanhood
Trutuyou : I think it's so amazing that throughout our friendship we have watched each other grow through so much. Now, we are in this defining moment where we are learning who we are as women, trying to define what that looks like, and how we put it out into the world. What do you love most about coming into womanhood?
Jordin :
Man… Daija womanhood is amazing! I recently had this realization of the power of being a woman. Women are the originators of everything. The originators of life, ideas, creativity - like I am so happy to be a woman. We have all of these inherent gifts and traits that are unique to women. We are like co-creators with God. God literally put women here to save the world ahaha. I just think women are phenomenal. Seriously. We are the driving force behind so much.Trutuyou : What is something that you have learned in the midst of growing into womanhood?
Jordin :
I’ve learned to be more mindful of how I exert my energy because it's a gift. I've learned a lot about self-worth - being more mindful of what/who deserves my energy because I understand now how powerful it is.Trutuyou : What has been the most difficult thing about coming into womanhood?
Jordin :
Relaxing into femininity. I used to be hypervigilant. I didn't want to mess up, get hurt, or make the wrong move. I was always on guard but I've learned to relax into my femininity and be more receptive to what God has in store. When you are in a state of receiving you allow more things to be gifted to you. Feminity is receptive energy. It’s just… not always having to be in control because that doesn't leave room for God to do things unexpectedly. Trutuyou : What are some things that you are loving right now? Whether it be music, trends, books, or places?
Jordin :
I am loving the library these days. I love reading. I feel like with everything going on, things can feel a little mundane but books are like an escape. For the duration that I'm reading a book, my mind is somewhere else and I come back out of it feeling inspired.Trutuyou : What are three words that you would use to describe what you want from 2022?
Jordin :
Prosperity, connections, freedom, and I'm going to say alignment too.Trutuyou : Those are good! My three words are connection, uncomfort and expression. In your own words, what does it mean to be true to you? What will it look like for you in 2022?
Jordin :
For me, it means being ten toes down in my beliefs and my passions. It looks like me showing up authentically and being used as a vessel. That's ultimately what it is. Being used as a vessel. That's being true to myself and just allowing God to use me in whichever way is fit. Just showing up willing and ready.THANK YOU JORDIN ! ︎
