An Intimate Conversation w/ Jasmine

Trutuyou : Who is Jasmine and what do you do?

Jasmine :

I’m an entrepreneur. I am on this journey of really building myself as a leader. I really care for people. I want to lead people into their directed paths and show them the way. Within doing that I am building a production company and really changing the perception of the fashion world. I’m a film director. I'm building my magazine right now. I do Youtube and I’m a podcaster. I’m a person of impact. I see myself as a light. I am a soul experiencing a human experience.

Trutuyou : Touch on that impact and what you’re creating in this world? Let’s start with Galdemode.

Galdemode

“Galdemode means fashion gal in french. It’s a fashion and spiritual company. I try to bring that vintage aesthetic to the fashion industry. If you pay attention to the 90’s and early 80’s era, fashion was so effortless. That vintage look... ah I die for it! We are also entering the future. The early 2000’s Y2k era is what futurism should be. If you pay attention to fashion it’s always repeating. Galdemode is all about bringing that back to life! “

Jas Shares

“I’ve always wanted to put my voice out there and it started as a podcast platform. It was just me sharing with the world my thoughts, what I was feeling and just opening up a vulnerable space to help others because we all go through the same things in different ways. It’s important to share your story because you never know who it might help. That’s how it all started and then I was just like ‘Let me bring this to youtube!’”

Fit Diaries

“From the beginning of starting youtube I knew that I wanted it to be revolved around fashion because I love fashion. That's who I am. That’s what Galdemode is. I would always watch outfit videos/ootds and want to do them myself. I wanted something very cinematic when it came to me showing off my outfits. It wasn’t until I was going to Puerta Rico for a women's event that it just happened! My friend and I just started to film and ever since then, it’s turned into what it is!”

Trutuyou : You exude confidence in every one of your endeavors and your walk in this life! I truly admire that. Talk a little about the journey that has led you to become the confident woman you are today!

Jasmine :

It’s very surprising you say that because growing up I wasn't as confident. I was very shy and I didn't really believe in myself. To be honest, still to this day I have doubt, and I'm working toward being fully confident in everything that I do.

I feel like it started with my acne like really gaining confidence and owning the way that I looked from beauty standards. I was very insecure when it came to my acne and I feel like that played a big role in everything that I did. It wasn't until I started seeing more girls embracing and accepting their acne. Which made me like ‘Oh! It’s cool, I’m going to start doing that.’ I guess just having these experiences where growth happens and it's like ‘I can do this!’

Not a lot of people will fight that voice in their head that is telling them they can't do it. The experiences that I went through in my life tested my belief in myself. I would say that's what built my confidence.

Trutuyou : I can definitely relate! I've always struggled with acne as well and it took me a while to learn to love myself. The fact that you are so open and willing to share your journey is amazing because not a lot of people have the courage to do that.

JASMINE :

Honestly, it can be scary but what I'm doing is for a purpose. It’s to help others.

TRUTUYOU : You bring a very positive impact to social media but I know that it can sometimes have a negative effect on mental health and confidence. How do you deal with this?

JASMINE :

In 2020, I was very aware that I was comparing my success to others' success. We have to understand that we are all in different chapters of our lives. Maybe you need to go through more setbacks or a slower process to really get what you want. You never know if someone's process started when they were five years old. Who knows!? You can't compare your chapter 2 to someone else's chapter 10. Just practice that and remind yourself of how far you've come. That is so big! Just reflecting on yourself. We don't give ourselves enough credit! I mean I know at least I don't.

TRUTUYOU : Yes! I don't give myself enough credit either girl.

JASMINE :

It's like we are only in our twenties and we both have these businesses that have big goals and big visions to impact a community. That's already something big! There are people who are in their thirties that still don’t know what they want to do. So changing my perspective when it comes to that has really helped me a lot with just being in the present.

TRUTUYOU : You recently posted a Jas shares on the importance of spending time with yourself. Why do you feel this is so important?

JASMINE :

When you spend time with yourself and get to know who you are, reflection, ideas, and growth happens. You create these moments where you are building a relationship with yourself. We are always so focused on building a relationship with our friends, our man, and everyone else, that we forget that we also need to build a relationship with ourselves. We are always changing and there's always going to be something to uncover about ourselves. When we don't create that time and space to do the things that we love to do and grow with ourselves, we block those expressions. I come across a lot of people who don’t know what they want to do or what they even like because they never really sat down and explored those options. It’s important to be selfish sometimes and say no to hanging out or even working.

One thing that helped me learn to hang out with myself is something that my lovely friend said once, “Every day is an opportunity to love yourself.” She said to begin the day by asking myself, ‘How can I love myself today?’ Instead of waking up and going on my phone or staying in bed, I ask myself this. It has a positive effect on how I approach the day.

TRUTUYOU : I love that! I will be starting my days like this from here on. What are some ways that you show up for yourself?

JASMINE :

Doing things that I love like journaling. Ever since I was little I've loved writing. It is a way for me to escape. Dancing also! I always go through these phases where I’m dancing a lot and then I just stop for months straight. I noticed how much it impacted me. Sometimes I get these feelings where I feel like something is missing in my life. I always think it's external. In reality, it's internal. You already have everything that you want in life, you just have to look for it.  It’s knowing what is important to you and working on it each and every day. As long as you are giving that part of your life attention and focus it’s going to bring you joy.

TRUTUYOU : Do you recite daily affirmations? If so, share one of your favorites.

Jasmine :

What's meant for me won't pass me If I'm meant to be a leader, it’ll come. If Galdemode is meant to be big, it'll come. The difference between that vision and now is time.

TRUTUYOU : If you could give the younger less confident you a piece of advice what would it be?

JASMINE :

That you hold a very special power within yourself that no one else has. No one has what you have to bring to the table. Everyone is so different. That’s what's so special because you can impact someone way differently than anyone else. That is so powerful because you are here for a reason. We are all here for a specific reason. To show the world who we are. That’s why you are in a certain place in your life. You're not always going to feel your best or good enough, but always remember that you have a certain power that no one else has. It can really move mountains.

TRUTUYOU : When you envision your highest self living in your most truest form, what do you see? What are you doing?

JASMINE :

I envision my highest self living a life of fun, freedom, and fulfillment. What does that look like? It looks like traveling, meeting new people, learning about different cultures. While on this journey of traveling, I am meeting people along the way that I can serve. To help lead people to their paths and share my story while traveling around the world. Right now when thinking about it and saying it, it sounds scary but that’s truly who I want to be.

THANK YOU JASMINE! ︎
